The Penguins seem to be a similar place as the Jackets are pretty familiar with in their brief history. The Pens sit at 10th place in the East with 55 points and a 25-23-5 record while the Jackets are 10th in the West with 53 points and a 24-22-5 record.

The similarities end there. Therrien may be on his way out of the Burgh while Hitch is pretty well entrenched in Columbus with the vast improvement of the team in just over 2 years time.

A win tonight potentially puts the Jackets into a tie for 8th place…

Unfortunately not time to celebrate just yet… there are still 30 games to go after tonight’s match-up. While a win tonight would be great, with Dubie in goal, I really don’t know how this team will react, frankly he scares me.

Not much going today in the wake of Super Bowl 43 last night… I don’t like the Steelers at all but whatever.

-Alexandre Picard was placed on waivers today, not a surprise, and it signals the expected return of Rusty Klesla to the lineup tomorrow night vs. the Blues.

-As I type this I’m watching the Blues vs. Red Wings and Manny Legace just got smoked by a slap shot from Kirk Maltby on the rush. Hopefully the Jackets are ready for another team coming in on the 2nd night of a back-to-back.

-Puck Daddy has an interesting post about Steve Mason’s bout with Mononucleosis.

-Puck-rakers reports that Jason Chimera has moved back to the wing, his usual position as of today’s practice.
